I hit a perfect 45/45 in the May 2023 session while studying at an international school in Tokyo. Now I have offers from Cambridge HSPS, HKU, and HKUST. This guide is my blueprint for efficiency. I know how to cut through the noise because I lived it.

Week 6: Paper 3 (Practical Skills & Option) & Full Mocks

The final week integrates everything. Dedicate time to Paper 3, which tests your practical skills and option knowledge. Review common experimental designs, safety precautions, and data manipulation techniques. Understand the difference between accuracy and precision, random and systematic errors. Practice interpreting unfamiliar experimental setups and suggesting improvements.

Crucially, conduct at least two full, timed mock exams under exam conditions. Use past papers from the last 3-5 years. This simulates the actual exam experience and helps you manage your time effectively. After each mock, meticulously review your answers against the mark scheme, identifying recurring mistakes and areas that still need a quick brush-up. This is where you fine-tune your exam stamina and strategy.

The Day Before & Exam Day: Calm & Confidence

The day before the exam, avoid cramming new information. Instead, do a light review of your summary notes, key diagrams, and perhaps a few flashcards. Ensure you get a good night's sleep. Pack your bag with all necessary equipment (pens, pencils, calculator, ruler, ID) and a bottle of water. Know your exam venue and time.

On exam day, eat a nutritious breakfast. Arrive early. During the exam, read questions carefully, paying attention to command terms and allocated marks. If you get stuck, move on and come back. Manage your time. Remember, the IB is a marathon, not a sprint, but these six weeks are your final, crucial burst of speed.
